At Chase, Leavitt & Co., Capt. Shawn Moody and Capt. Daniel Guay are both graduates of Maine Maritime Academy and licensed mariners who manage a Maine based Ship Agency and Marine Survey Company. They have been directly involved in all the vessels which have currently carried windmill components into the ports of Searsport and Portland, Maine by either acting as agents for the vessels owners/operators or by performing condition and discharge surveys for various principals involved with the shipping and receiving of these windmill components.
The Port of Eastport is Maine?s Deep Water Cargo Port being the deepest natural seaport in the continental United States. As an international cargo port we serve both import and export markets. Since 1981 we have been primarily been in the export business of Maine forest products, however recently this year we began servicing the wind energy market through windmill component importation and see this is a potential growth market going forward.
